Trial Chamber XP & Loot Run

XP, trial keys, ominous trial keys, breeze rods, and vault rewards

hard

Trial chambers don't work like anything else on this page. Instead of a passive structure you build once and walk away from, you're dealing with a pre-generated dungeon full of trial spawners, special blocks that activate in waves when a player gets close, spawn a mob set scaled to how many players are nearby, then go on cooldown once the wave's cleared before they can fire again.

Because trial spawners aren't infinite the way a dungeon spawner is, there's no version of this you seal up and let run. The real approach is working through the chamber's rooms in order: trigger a spawner, clear the wave, loot the vault it unlocks with the key that dropped, then either wait out the cooldown to run that room again or move on to the next spawner.

Drinking an Ominous Bottle (from a raid captain kill, the same idea as Bad Omen for raids) before triggering a spawner starts an ominous trial instead, a tougher mob wave that unlocks an ominous vault with noticeably better loot odds. Worth keeping a stock of these bottles specifically for repeat runs through a chamber you've already cleared once.

Breeze mobs only show up from trial chamber spawners, and they drop breeze rods, the sole ingredient for the mace weapon and wind charges. Since there's currently no other source for that whole item line, running a chamber at least once is worth it even if loot farming isn't really your thing.

This is closer to a repeatable dungeon crawl than a passive AFK build, so bring real survivability gear every time. Milk to clear status effects, a shield, actually good armor. A single wave can throw several attackers at you at once, nothing like the slow trickle of a normal spawner farm.

We haven't filmed our own walkthrough for this one yet. Until we do, here's a live search for current video tutorials.

Materials needed

  • 1 located trial chamber
  • Strong armor, shield, bow, and melee weapon
  • Food, healing potions, and milk buckets
  • Torches and blocks for marking cleared routes
  • Several chests or shulker boxes for loot
  • 1 Ominous Bottle (optional, for ominous trials)

Trial chambers are repeatable combat encounters with a cooldown, not continuous monster-spawner grinders.
